Malnutrition
Malnutrition is defined as the condition resulting from eating an unbalanced diet lacking the proper amount of nutrients or having too much of one kind of nutrient. When an elderly patient in a nursing home experiences malnutrition, this could be caused by several different factors. In the United States, a shortage of food usually isn’t the problem. Instead, a lack of awareness of the physical and nutritional necessities of each patient might be the cause.
